GeoSolutions at WAGIS 2023 in Tacoma, WA 14-15 June

Dear Reader,

GeoSolutions, a global leader in commercial support for open-source geo software, is excited to sponsor and participate in this year’s WAGISA Conference in Tacoma, WA (June 14-15).  If you’re at the conference, stop by our table in the exhibit area or schedule a meeting with Ryan to learn more about GeoServer, GeoNode, MapStore and open-source technical approaches to managing and serving massive spatio-temporal datasets leveraging open standards and interoperability protocols.

Ryan will be presenting on Thursday and a brief summary of the presentation is below. We’ll update the blog post with the actual presentation for those who are unable to make it to the show:

Building spatial infrastructures with GeoServer, Mapstore and GeoNode: Experiences from the trenches

Open Source GeoSpatial software is gaining increased attention due to a mix of factors: regulations emerging all over the world favoring Open Source solutions, the push coming from the OpenData movement, and budgetary drivers behind the growth of Open Source software adoption and integration with proprietary applications.

The goal of this presentation is to introduce and briefly describe GeoSolutions Open Source products, and demonstrate how they can be used to create real-world spatial infrastructures built (mostly or entirely) on Open Source components leveraging, where applicable, public and widely accepted standards, both internationally recognized (e.g. OGC WMS, WFS and OGC  APIs) and de-facto (e.g. GeoJSON).

The presentation will first provide the audience an introduction to GeoServer, MapStore and GeoNode, showing how they support creation of enterprise spatial infrastructures with insight on the future direction and development. Useful suggestions on how to best approach Open Source products, especially if coming from the proprietary software world, will be given as well. Closing the presentation, we’ll share a few real-world projects implemented by GeoSolutions relevant to the local government audience.

We look forward to a great WAGISA.  As always, call on GeoSolutions, the core code developers and experts on:

  • GeoServer, the leading open source server to publish geospatial data at scale.
  • MapStore, our modular open source WebGIS product to create and publish geospatial data as maps, dashboards and geo stories.
  • GeoNode, the open source GIS platform to create a complete and interoperable spatial data infrastructure.
